Circle Of Security Parenting Groups

Pediatric Associates of the Northwest is thrilled to now offer Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) groups for children ages 4 months to 6 years old. These groups will be facilitated by our experienced behavioral health psychologists and staff who have been specifically trained in this evidence-based program.

Recognizing and Understanding Your Child's Big Feelings

The early childhood years are a unique time when so much is developing in our little ones physically, mentally, and socially as they learn about the world around them and start to become their own person. This is also a time that can be filled with big emotions in children, and it can be difficult for parents to understand what is happening and how to best support their child.

What is the Circle of Security Parenting Program?

The Circle of Security Parenting program focuses on enhancing parent-child relationships by helping parents recognize their children’s emotions and needs, and supporting them in learning to manage their feelings. Creating a strong and secure attachment early on sets the foundation for healthy relationships and self-esteem throughout life, and can protect against future mental health concerns like anxiety and depression.

Circle of Security Parenting Program at Pediatric Associates of the Northwest

Our next COSP groups will start this August and next January! These are open to PANW patients and the wider community. You do not have to be a patient of our practice to join!

Groups will meet virtually each week with one of our behavioral health psychologists, with up to 8 families per group. The program is divided into 8 sessions which build upon each other. This is intended for parents/guardians; children do not need to be present for sessions.

Session Times:

August Group: Fridays, 11 am – 12 pm

January Group: Tuesdays, 11 am – 12 pm

Official start date will be determined once a group has been filled.

Location: Virtual Zoom

Billing/Insurance: For some insurances, including Cigna and Oregon Health Plan, these groups are a covered benefit. If these are not a covered benefit under your insurance, PANW will provide a 50% discount if paid at the time of service.

Healthy Body Talk

With eating disorders on the rise for both girls and boys and the emphasis put on “body image” from peers and society at large, we owe it to our children to cultivate core family values about what it means to have a “healthy body.”
